Purpose of the job / project

Play a key role in the improvement and innovation of IT solutions within a dynamic agile team delivering high-quality services across key data domains. Contribute to major European initiatives such as SCAILED, supporting responsible AI in the biotech sector, and EuropeAI focused on developing sovereign and trustworthy Generative AI solutions for public administrations. Support the delivery of scalable, compliant, and impactful digital solutions in a multi-stakeholder European environment.
 
As a Software Engineer I, you will contribute to the implementation and evolution of applications and platform services and support the integration of new solutions with LNDS’s existing data-centric infrastructures.
 
You will support continuous improvement and innovation within the organisation, focusing on:
 
· Assisting in automating parts of the software development lifecycle
 
· Supporting improvements to internal data flows and platform capabilities
 
· Contributing to technical environments used for data processing, analytics, and AI-related experimentation
 
You will be part of the Technology team, working in close collaboration with data specialists, AI experts, and governance teams, contributing to projects related to AI, data governance, and digital public infrastructure.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain software components with guidance from senior team members 
  • Contribute to the implementation and integration of applications with existing data-centric infrastructures 
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and internal tooling
  • Collaborate within the agile software development team 
  • Participate in the software development lifecycle, including development, testing, and maintenance 
  • Apply good software engineering practices, including coding standards, testing, and documentation
  • Follow security and privacy-by-design principles with support from the team
  • Contribute to issue tracking, debugging, and support activities
  • Write and maintain basic technical documentation
  • Continuously learn and stay up to date with software, data, and AI technologies

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field 
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in software development (including internships, academic, or personal projects)
  • Experience in data-related environments is considered an asset
Technical competencies
  • Experience or familiarity with Python or Node.js
  • Basic understanding of backend development (APIs, services, integrations)
  • Frontend experience (e.g. React) is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies (Docker or similar) is a plus
  • Basic understanding of authentication and identity concepts is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases
  • Exposure to cloud environments is an advantage
  • Comfortable working in Linux and git-based environments (or willingness to learn)

Pay Transparency:
The full‑time base salary range for this position is shown at the top of the job advertisement or is discussed with the LNDS Talent Acquisition team early in the process.
The final offer will depend on several factors, including:
• the scope, complexity, responsibilities, and requirements of the role, and
• your individual profile, such as your education or qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills, and relevant experience.
If you do not meet all the role requirements or if you significantly exceed them, the final salary offered may fall below or above the stated range.
In addition to your base salary, you may also be eligible for other rewards and benefits, including a competitive performance‑based bonus. 
Eligibility depends on LNDS policies and the terms outlined in your employment contract.
